There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who know and love Reddit, and those who don’t even know what Reddit is. I am constantly surprised by how few people know about Reddit. Reddit is an amazing social media / user generated content (UGC) website that considers itself “The front page of the internet.”

Reddit is organized into countless “subreddits” or basically forums. There are subreddits for literally every topic imaginable, including:

• r/SmallBusiness

• r/NFL

• r/BirdsWithArms (for people who photoshop human arms onto birds)

• r/LawnCare

• r/Atltanta (or any other major city)

• r/MemeEconomy (focuses on the creation, and valuation of internet memes)

• r/EarthPorn (not what you think, just beautiful picture of nature)

As a user, you can subscriber to certain subreddits so that your feed becomes customized to only your interests. It’s a fantastic platform with a good mobile app and a rabid user base. As of December 2018, Reddit ranks #18 on the most visited websites globally according the Wikipedia.

Why Reddit for Advertising?

Reddit ads are ultra-targeted. Reddit does such a great job getting its users to join certain subreddits, so it is incredibly easy to run ultra-targeted ads. For example, there is a subreddit called r/LawnCare with 27,000 subscribers! If you were a lawn care business this would be a perfect place to run a digital ad. Want to reach an audience of expecting moms? r/BabyBumps has 105,000 subscribers! How about gamers? r/Gaming currently boasts 20.6 MILLION subscribers who regularly visit the community.
