Web Analytics

What is it?

Web analytics are a collection of reports about your website activity. Web analytics platforms like Google Analytics (free) help you understand important insights, for example

  1. How many visitors came to your website?
  2. How did your visitors find you?
  3. What pages do people visit most?

Why should I care?

The data helps you improve your business. WIthout analytics on your website you are simply guessing, or essentially “flying blind.” Imagine asking a mechanic to repair your car based on a photo. Without analytics, you will have a hard time improving your web presence. This is not the most fun topic to cover, but it may be the most important one.

How does it work?

Google Analytics is by far the market leader, owning >60% of market share. There are other web analytics platforms out there, but Google is best in class, and its free! You simply create an account, then add a line of code to your website. We recognize this might be too complex for some, so we offer a “do it for me” service to add analytics to your site. You will need to know where your site is hosted and how to edit the site. Most small business use website hosting tools like Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, or WordPress who make it extremely easy to add Google Analytics without any code by simple copy/pasting your user-ID into a field. It will look like this: UA-25322061-4
